Meet Dr. O'Neil and Neil and His Florida Dentistry Team

Dr. Tom O’Neil

Dr. Thomas O’Neil is a New York native, and a graduate of Columbia University Dental School in New York City. He is also a graduate of The Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies, and has completed a residency at Peninsula Hospital in Far Rockaway, New York where he built and maintained a 14-year practice in the Poughkeepsie area.

In preference to warmer weather, Dr. O’Neil and his wife, a dental hygienist, relocated to Florida. He opened his office in the Professional Center at Woodmont in Tamarac, FL. Here he has established a practice of General, Cosmetic and Sedation Dentistry.

Born in Bellerose, Queens, Dr. O’Neil’s part-time jobs during his High School and College years included gas station attendant, golf caddy, movie usher, NY City cab driver and hospital orderly. Dr. O’Neil’s father is a retired New York City policeman and his wife, Chris, graduated from SUNY at Farmingdale’s Dental Hygiene School and is a native of Peekskill, NY. Read more about her below.

In his continuing education, Dr. O’Neil has completed courses in Cardiac Life Support, Dental Cosmetics, Conscious Sedation Dentistry and has a Florida IV Sedation permit. His memberships include the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, International Association of Oral Medicine & Toxicology, The Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, The American Dental Association, Florida Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Florida Dental Association, and Broward County Dental Association. His pleasures include spending time with his family and boating. He and his wife, Chris, have been married for 27 years and have two daughters ages 14 and 24.

He and his staff continue their education process by attending courses to keep them informed and current. They continually master the latest technologies and techniques in sedation and cosmetic dentistry.

I received my Certification for Dental Assisting, as well as an Associates in Science Degree at Broward Community College in Davie, Florida, and a Bachelor's Degree in Dental Hygiene as well.” “When I am not working I love hanging out at the pool with my family and friends, playing with my dogs, and/or reading a good book.” “I, as well as the rest of the team at Dr. Thomas O'Neil's office, take pride in making our patients feel comfortable by providing them with the best care possible!”

My experience in dentistry includes 10 plus years assisting in General Dentistry, Oral Surgery, and Periodontics.” “At Dr. O'Neil's office my duties are primarily administrative in working with patients. I also enjoy working with the clinical staff as they need me. Out of work, my favorite things to do are spend time with my family on the baseball and softball field, and in the dance studio. I love traveling, going to the beach, having coffee with friends, and last but not least curling up with a great book.”

“In 1975, I relocated to Florida, from Mississippi. I began my work as a dental assistant/receptionist with a family owned dental practice in 1981.” “My hobbies are photography and decorating. My family and I love to travel. My favorite pastimes are going out to dinner and the movies, and having picnics on the beach. I also enjoy boating and relaxing at home with my family, friends, and pets” “Nine months ago, I started working as a member of Dr. O'Neil's front desk team. My responsibilities include assisting patients, answering the telephone, and maintaining the recall system. I consider myself fortunate to be working with some of the most generous, jovial, warm hearted, family orientated, team minded people.”

“Since 1987 as a dental assistant, I started to develop a strong passion toward the dental field, I pursued my education and earned an associate in science in Dental Hygiene from the Miami Dade Community College class of 1993. I have devoted myself since then to my profession, which I chose primarily because of my inherent urge and desire to help others.” “Our goal here at Dr. O’Neil’s office is to make our patients feel very comfortable and relaxed while providing the optimum level of care. When I’m not working, I enjoy reading, dancing, traveling, and dining out with my husband and kids.” “My job is to empower my patients to be as passionate about their oral health as I am.”

I love to make my patients smile! It is amazing how changing someone's smile could change their life. In my free time I enjoy traveling, designing clothes, going to church, and taking care of my two younger brothers; ages, 16 and 13.
